Class 4 outside our accommodation in York. Once again we were looked after superbly by Wheatlands Lodge.
As usual, it has been a busy week in school.
It's been good to get back to some normality after the two residential trips either side of half-term, and the children are benefiting from being back into their routine. I must say, however, that both the Langdale (Y3/4) and York trips went really well. Both groups behaved brilliantly throughout, and got the most they could out of each trip. It was great to see so many children involved as well - nearly 90% of Class 3 went to Langdale, while every member of Class 4 went to York. Thanks again to our parents for trusting us with the children overnight; we understand it's a really big event for them - and for you!
We're delighted to be able to confirm that we will be able to perform the summer show at the Solway Hall on Thursday 9th July as the building work going on there will be complete by that time. Rehearsals are in full swing, and the children are really impressing the staff with how hard they're working to learn their lines, the dances and the acting. It's clear that lots of them are putting a good amount of time into their parts away from school too, so we're hoping the show itself will, as in previous years, be a big success!
Finally, I took some time to have a look at the children's Geography and History books this week. It always impresses me just how much learning we get through in a school year, as they have covered topics ranging from the ancient Mayans to the Vikings, and from Rainforests to Deserts. We're going to build a little more map work into Geography lessons to help the children built a more secure picture of what is where across the globe, but that should be good fun for everyone.
Have a good weekend when it gets here - and here's hoping the weather picks up!
All the best,
Mr P
