Class Two have been putting their scientific skills into practice this week as they explored the flowering plants growing in our school garden.

The children used cameras to photograph the plants and experimented with the zoom function to observe the flowers and petals closely. They then worked scientifically by deciding how they could sort the plants into different groups, including wild plants and garden plants.

Although the cooler weather meant that we found fewer garden plants than we might have expected, there were still plenty of wild plants to discover! The children spotted familiar flowers such as dandelions and daisies and enjoyed taking a closer look at the plants growing around our school grounds.

It was a great opportunity to combine observation, classification and scientific enquiry while exploring nature right on our doorstep.
